Halloween was the first of many holidays that Ryker would get to experience in the NICU. Shortly before Halloween, I was emergently admitted to University of Colorado Hospital (a hospital adjacent to Children's Hospital) for post pregnancy complications of ecplampsia. Tori and Jax went trick-or-treating, visting Ryker in the NICU and then went trick-or-treating visiting me at University.
In November, Ryker celebrated his first Thanksgiving at Children's Hospital, we also had our first Care Conference. This is when we found out that Ryker would need to stay at Children's Hospital for 6 months to 1 year. We found out that Ryker's kyphosis was a form of skeletal dysplasia and more severe than we had hoped. We also found out that Ryker has restrictive lung disease due to his kyphosis. We also found out that Ryker was the only reported case with his anomalies and he went on to get genetic testing (which we would find out came back normal). Ryker continued to have his up's and down's. We were questioned by many about the quality of life we wanted for Ryker.
